The Villa Terre de Haut is situated in the foothills, above the coast of the Cote d'Azur just 30 minutes from Nice airport. The picture above shows the view from the house over looking the pool.  The hill village of Gordon is just visible in the distance. Apart from forming a fabulous backdrop, the surrounding hills provide a great opportunity to get away from the bustle of the coast, whether by foot or by car.

Villa Terre de Haut is situated in a private wooded setting, out of sight of neighbors and surrounded by trees on three sides. It is so peaceful that it is easy to lose the will to go anywhere once you are there. The location provides a superb compromise between the calm of the foothills, and the action of the coast. In the summer it is all happening about thirty minutes south, by car. Alternatively, if you head north, nothing is happening at all, it is just fabulous mountains, valleys and small hill villages.

The list of local amenities is too great to go into here, but I will try briefly. Please call for specific information on activities and sightseeing.

Sports facilities and activities within half an hour of the Villa there are facilities for: Sailing, Windsurfing, Golf, Tennis, Walking, Climbing, Swimming (at the house and sea), Hang gliding, Go-carts, Skiing in winter, and I am sure there are many more that I can't think of. There are plenty of museums and art galleries in the unlikely event of rain. Nearby Grasse has a famous perfume industry with exhibitions open to the public. There are countless restaurants and bars in the area. There are two particularly good ones nearby in Bar-sur-Loup and Le Rouret.

Skiing is only 40 minutes away, a great place to learn!

Shopping For every day shopping there are plenty of good supermarkets within a ten minute drive. It is also possible to walk to Bar-sur-Loup and Le Rouret within twenty to thirty minutes. These walks are not for those adverse to steep inclines, but do provide an excellent way to keep fit. For more ambitious shopping, the towns of Monte Carlo, Nice, Antibes, and Cannes are all a short drive away.

Accommodation at the Villa

Villa Terre de Haut is built in the Provencal style and the atmosphere is informal, with plenty of wooden beams and rural charm. There is heating in every room for the cooler months. The interior of the villa has been recently redecorated, and is always kept spotlessly clean.  In the summer one tends to live outside on the patio around the pool, only venturing inside occasionally to fetch a cool drink.

Equipment

The villa is fully equipped with towels for the house and for swimming, bed linen etc. all basic domestic necessities are catered for, please call to confirm any questions in this department.  We now have a baby cot.

Upstairs: there are three good sized bedrooms and a bathroom.

Bedroom one is a large double bedroom to the front of the villa with views over the hillside.

Bedroom two is at the rear of the villa and has two single beds. The beds are arranged in such a manner so that they can be used as sofas to watch the satellite TV and video, which are located in this room.

Bedroom three is a large bedroom with two single beds, with fairly low beams in places, and a small south-facing terrace.

Bathroom one comprises: W.C, hand basin, and electric shower, so no running out of hot water.

Downstairs: there is a bathroom with a separate W.C, the living room, the kitchen, and the fourth bedroom.Villa rental

The kitchen: appliances include, Microwave, Oven, Hob, sink, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/ freezer. It is fully equipped with new plates glasses cutlery etc. for about 10 people. The usual array of kitchen equipment from saucepans to garlic presses is all there, even gourmet chefs should find everything they need.

The living room has a set of double French doors (of course) that open onto the large patio that surrounds the pool, and provide a view of the hillside. There is a good stereo for music lovers. For the cooler months there is an insert fireplace, which looks great and puts out a lot of heat. There is a sofa, three chairs, side tables and a dinning table and chairs to sit eight.  There is an attractive open staircase leading to the upper floor.

The fourth bedroom is a pleasant spacious room with double French doors over looking the pool.

The second bathroom is very close to the forth bedroom but not quite en-suite, it has a bath with an attached shower, and a basin vanity unit with mirrors. The W.C is in a separate room.

Outside. If you come down in the spring or summer this is where you will spend most of your time, lazing around the pool and enjoying the view (if you have got your eyes open). The villa is situated on approximately an acre of land in terraces. The most frequently used areas are the large terrace surrounding the pool and a lawn for kids to play on next to the pool. There are also some shade trees to the right of the pool when the sun gets too much. Out door equipment includes two sets of garden tables and chairs, plenty of sun loungers, a barbecue, various pool games, boules etc.

Notes: The pool is close to the house and may or may not be fenced off for 2004 depending upon French legislation. There is a reasonable large drop (about 12 feet) beyond the pool protected by  the balustrading you can see in the photo above. The balustrading meets British building code for height, but if a child managed to climb on top of it it would be quite a tumble if they fell off. Having given this warning it should be said, that we are now in our forth year and have had many small children among our guests without complaint.  Many have come back for a second year. CONDITIONS OF HIRE

  An initial payment of 50% of the total cost of the rental is required to secure a booking. The booking is confirmed upon receipt of the Rental deposit.

Upon confirmation, the Hirer is liable for the total price of the property and Services deposit (see below), payable no later than 6 weeks prior to the reserved period.

It is a strict condition of hire that the property may only be occupied from 4 p.m. on the first day of the booking and up to 10 a.m. on the day of departure. This is to allow the cleaners time to prepare the house for your arrival. Bags however may be left prior to 4 p.m. arrival at the Hirers risk.

The Hirer is responsible for the property during the hire period. A refundable Services deposit of £250 for the first week plus £100 for every week thereafter, is payable to cover the cost of telephone, and any agreed breakages. This deposit will be fully refunded minus the cost of telephone usage, and any breakages. A Full Inventory check is taken on the day of arrival and departure and the Hirer is responsible for any additional loss or damage.

No liability is accepted for the breakdown of any mechanical equipment or for blockage of any part of the drainage system however immediate arrangements will be made for repair by reputable local contractors.

The use of the accommodation and amenities such as swimming pool etc. is entirely at the users risk and no responsibility can be accepted for injury or loss or damage to Hirer's or their Guests belongings.

Under no circumstances can more than 8 people occupy the house.
